History
Maryborough Clay Target Club was originally established in 1962 at Saltwater Creek on the northern outskirts of the city.
In 1978 the club moved to its present location on 9.75 hectares at Island Plantation, where it is still going strong.
The grounds adjacent to Maryborough Airport were originally leased from the Department of Civil Aviation and are now leased from the Fraser Coast Regional Council.
The club is affiliated with the Australian Clay Target Association and the Queensland Clay Target Association and holds the appropriate permits from the Queensland Police Weapons Branch for the club and the range.
The location is ideal with a dense background of pine trees. Three down the line layouts are all equipped with Canterbury Voice Release systems and Materelli Automatic traps.
The clubhouse is humble but has good canteen facilities and seating with a good view of the grounds. Visitors are made most welcome and the club has the reputation of being one of the friendliest clubs around.
During the winter months (June, July and August) Maryborough Clay Target Club sees visitors from southern states who have come to enjoy the Queensland sunshine and do some shooting while they are here.
The club holds a competition shoot on the third Sunday of each month with an Annual Two Day Shoot in May. For full details see the Calendar page.
Practice and coaching is held on Saturday and Wednesday mornings 9.00am-12.00pm.
We look forward to welcoming you to Maryborough Clay Target Club.
